untitled A 49

The paintings of Canadian artist, M. Cran, are abstract works rendered on thin wood panels, 61 cm x 61 cm, in acrylic and oil mediums.

Exhibition: Footprints of a Mind

The salient interplay in these paintings is more perceptual than conceptual
Not unlike melody, from a musical perspective, where conversation unfolds via a vocabulary which is non-verbal, sufficient unto its own - similarly the spirit and dynamics of these pieces. Although the paintings remain untitled, in this exhibition they are numbered for reference. [For viewing select 'gallery' tab above.]

From the artist’s perspective, collectively they chronicle footprints of a mind.

                                     rock of ages

in the moon-swept throat of a bamboo flute
a luster of quiet is hung
potent as the valley's deep
suffused with jasmine tongues

spool of serenity
without beginning
gracing the plain
of the hollow cane

orifice without artifice
ladling life-light
through coils
of sun-sculpted sky

wild mountains streaming
forests slaking
tracing echoes
of lunar song
rock of ages
rock the ages
in pool of passage the silence gazes
at silence in its prime
epochs sip
the hourglass
and no breathing
tells the time
